We're here to give a helping hand

If you have any questions about registering a death, arranging the funeral, or any of our services, here's where you can find answers and generally helpful information.

An unattended cremation (also known as a “direct” or “simple” cremation) is one where no mourners attend the cremation service itself. We take care of all the arrangements – from collection of the deceased to cremation and the return of ashes – without a formal ceremony. You can still personalise elements such as the coffin, wording on notices, and choice of music or readings in advance.

Repatriation refers to the process of returning a deceased person to their home country (or another country) after death. We coordinate all the necessary paperwork, transport, and legal permissions required so the person can be laid to rest where they or their family desire.

As soon as someone passes away, you or someone present should call a doctor to confirm the death. Then contact us to arrange collection. We’ll guide you through registering the death, obtaining the necessary certificates, and handling legal formalities.

In England, deaths should be registered within 5 days (unless referred to a coroner). We can help you with this process, including where to go, what documents are needed, and arranging for the death certificate.

Our Chapel of Rest is a peaceful space where you can view your loved one in private before the funeral. Visits are normally by appointment to ensure privacy and comfort. We explain how to arrange this when needed.

Yes – you can personalise many elements: choice of coffin/urn, music, readings, flowers, type of transport (e.g. horse-drawn carriages), notices, decorations, scriptures or rituals. We welcome ideas and are happy to accommodate special requests where possible.

A cremation involves the body being cremated and ashes returned or scattered. A burial is the interment of the body in a cemetery. Each has different location, environmental, ceremonial and cost implications. We can explain both options in detail to help you decide what suits best.

After the funeral, we offer bereavement care through William, who is a Licentiate of the Society of Bereavement Practitioners. We can provide information about grief counselling, support groups, and practical advice for dealing with administrative matters.

Timeframes depend on a few factors: whether medical certificates are in place, whether a coroner is involved, and if special arrangements such as repatriation or a religious requirement exist. Usually, funerals occur within 5-10 days, but we will work to accommodate your needs.

Yes. We provide collection of the deceased (within 15 miles for our standard packages), hearse, pallbearers, and may also arrange additional transport for mourners or special vehicles such as horse-drawn carriages.
